Despite current beliefs,
there is no age limitation for being fully responsive and alive.
Sages, heroes, and leaders of all ages manifest a strong inner
life force. This life force allows survival and a mastery of the
self in a chosen world. This life force can still be defined by
the ancient term of quickening
which is from a Greek compound word with two meanings: "to unite
with" and "to vitalize."
To be quickened requires the complete union with one’s self and
world as well as the energy or vitality to manifest a chosen
goal or dedication. The ancient and nearly universal
descriptions of how this can be done can be explained as
changing inner hormones which can be shown to be the same as the
ancient model of activating inner gods.
The concept of quickening
began in the ancient martial arts as soldiers had to find union
with their opponents as well as their comrades in order to
survive on the battlefield. Over the millennia, not only were
the methods which they developed to increase their quickening
suppressed, but even the very knowledge that quickening could be
increased was denied.
Learned skills and reliance
upon authorities have largely replaced the need for quickened
individuals and inner metaphysical powers. Individuals without
quickening seek societal approval instead of exploring the
unlimited inner self and its creative powers. In seeking social
approval, individuals increase their inner tensions that cause
the well known increase in the aging of the body and mind.
That modern medical research
spends almost all of its efforts on studying the defects and
weaknesses of the body and virtually none on its internal
creative and constructive processes can be explained quite
simply by economics. Since the ancient claims to success were
proven by survival on the battlefield, it seemed that the
ancient science could be substantiated by demonstrating that
their exercises could increase the ability of an individual to
respond physically to the actions of another person.
Consider the
following depictions of two methods of doing this. The
first is described in stories of the old martial arts schools of
being able to grab a stone out of the hand of your teacher
before the hand closes. The taking of the pebble is only
possible when both individuals do not know when the pebble will
be reached for.
The second is a
modern equivalent which most adults are initially unable to do.
It requires an individual to unexpectedly drop a dollar
bill through the separated fingers of the person being tested
placed just as shown. The time of response is indicated by how
high the fingers are on the bill when, or if, the bill is
caught. Catching the bill requires the initial response of
perceiving the bill being released and then the inner muscle
response to catch the bill. Most people believe that your
awareness and response time naturally diminish with age.
However, this is not true
since your speed of response can be increased using a well
described ancient method
consisting of sitting on a pad that provides comfortable
pressure on the perineum while concentrating on exhaling the
breath as if it is pressing down against the pad. Even if only a
small improvement is noted after the first few tries, your
reflexes will continue to improve dramatically such as described
in the following experiment with individuals who had practiced
daily for at least a month. When other improvements of the body
and mind are noted, then you too might become a believer in the
claims of a very universal ancient but denigrated science.
We are, of course, offering
the required warning that the above exercise is not an approved
medical practice and a physician’s approval should be obtained
before attempting it.
